About Dark Train Express

Dark Train Express is a four-piece band that plays original songs that run through many formats and genres.
Dark Train Express is the brainchild of Chad Cummings, whose music has been described by The Noise Magazine of Boston as “Adult Contemporary soft rock done to an absolute T”, He blends the sounds of folk, rock, jazz, country and blues with a strong pop music sensibility. Chad started piano studies at age 7 and guitar at age 11. He was gigging in the vibrant original music club scene in and around Boston at age 15, with the band “Sudden Impact” where he got to open for bands such as Extreme and LA Guns. At 18 years old, Chad was signed to Image 7 Records out of Vancouver as a member of the Canadian based rock band “Siloam”. They released their internationally well received debut album “Sweet Destiny” and toured steadily for the next 3 years, selling up to 7,000 seats at some of their headlining arena shows. In conjunction with Chad’s continuing live music performing commitments, he has also been a busy and gracious music instructor. He is currently a long-time faculty member of Mountain Top Music Center of Conway, New Hampshire.
Don Hart began his musical journey at the young age of 12. He found himself playing for various bands throughout the area, landing in the Engineer seat on the Dark Train Express! Don is the "Steam in the Locomotive"!
Gideon Richard is a multi-instrumentalist from Western Maine. He has been playing violin since the age of 3, as well as studying piano and guitar. He enjoys performing classical and rock music throughout Greater Portland and Mount Washington Valley. A graduate of Fryeburg Academy, Gideon is currently a Music Major at USM’s Osher School of Music.
Eben Eastman has been playing and studying bass for over 20 years and was an original member of the very first Jam Band at Mountain Top Music Center in Conway, New Hampshire. He gigs actively with Dark Train Express and sings backing bass vocals, “very smooth and low”.
